THE 2018-2019 DANCE SEASON
BALLET II (Intermediate) Students will learn classical
ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre
exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations.
The ballet curriculum is based on a combination of ballet methods.
As students’ progress this class will become
increasingly more complex and intricate. Enrollment
in this class is based on evaluation. Level 2 students are
intermediate to advance level students and are
evaluated for this class before placement.
TINY TOTS - This class is designed for our youngest dancers
who want to express their independence without the assistance of
mom or dad. Boys and Girls will have fun learning pre-ballet
and tap movements to popular music. (Ages 2-5)
KEWPIES - Students will enjoy expressing themselves through the art
of dance in this fun and interactive class. This class is built on the basic
movements learned in the younger Ballet/Tap combination class but
is still appropriate for the first-time dancer. At this level, students will
learn more challenging tap and ballet skills through creative dance and
movement drills. Boys and girls will enjoy learning
basic ballet and tap dance and terminology. (Ages 5-7)
HIP HOP – This is a high-energy class that infuses the
latest styles of street dancing. Classes will encourage
students to step outside of the box by bringing their own
individual style and personality to the movements.
Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina
to successfully perform moves. Therefore this class includes upper
and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up
to help prepare students for more intense movements.
Some classes may participate in external performances and
competitions. Level 2 & 3 students are intermediate
to advance level students and are evaluated
for this class before placement.
JAZZ 1 – This beginner’s jazz class will focus on learning
proper dance technique and terminology. Students will be exposed
to various styles of jazz to help develop a well-rounded dancer.
Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered
with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up,
stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations.
B-BOP HIP HOP (AGES 5-8) This beginner’s level Hip Hop
class is for our youngest hip hop dancer.
This class will encourage students to dance outside of
the box and bring their own personality
to each movement while having fun at the same time.
JAZZ II – This intermediate level jazz class will focus on
learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body,
improving performance quality and developing intricate rhythms
and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz
to help develop a well-rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet
technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a
proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions,
BALLET 1- A basic beginners class that
introduces the student to the elementary positions of classical ballet.
Classes are slow and thorough to ensure proper alignment
and understanding. This class may be repeated based on
technical retention and skill.
TAP - Students ages 7 and up will focus on rhythm,
musicality and timing. All classes begin with an energetic
warm-up, across the floor exercises and combinations.
Our beginner students explore the fundamental steps of
tap dance, learn tap terminology and develop
the ability to maintain correct body placement. Tap 2
students are intermediate to advance level students
and are evaluated for this class before placement.
